Packaging.
A flood of valuable materials.
Although the recycling of sales packaging is costly, it is worth it – especially for the environment.
There are many different kinds of packaging. They are made of, for example, glass, paper, cardboard or plastics. To make the recycling process as uncomplicated as possible, the different materials are thrown away according to type: packaging made of plastics, metal or composite materials are thrown in the recycling bin. Packaging made of paper or cardboard is put in the wastepaper wheelie bin or in wastepaper containers and packaging made of glass are thrown away into bottle banks according to colour (blue glass and other coloured glass, by the way, should be put in the green glass container).
What does REMONDIS do with waste packaging?
REMONDIS recycles plastic packaging into plastic granulates that can then be used to produce many different products such as plastic film, pipes or the outer casing of tools. Waste paper is cleanly sorted by REMONDIS and then delivered directly to the paper industry. We break up and clean the glass, so that, once it has been melted down, it can be used to make new bottles, windows, mirrors or other products. And the composite materials are used to make a high calorific fuel that is used in power plants to generate electricity and district heat.
